Subtle autumn image of Towada Lake

- Nanban-sen (Nanban Ship) - Tomoo Inagaki a label used to identifyThe remarkable woodblock print Nanban sen (Nanban Ship) is by Sumio Kawakami (18951972). This large format print is a later impression from the original blocks carved in 1939, printed with a single black block and then hand colored. The image is exotic and visually striking, with rich, well balanced colors. Kawakami used the term Nanban broadly, applying it to ships from various countries, including the Netherlands, rather than limiting it to Portugal
