An English Rose Black & White Comprising two pieces:Guy Lipscombe was a graphic artist and illustrator but also a sought after portrait painter. This looks like a rather personal work, a warm, direct gaze, that is more reminiscent of a moment caught by a snapped photograph than the hours of sitting she must have endured. Difficult to date, as in looks and costume she is deliciously timeless, but probably 1930s.
