Vintage Japanese Ranma Crane of Happiness & Pines Carved Transom Sugi Wood 68" Maki-e Measures: 37"' wide by 72"'The Japanese Ranma is a decorative and functional carving used above a door way to allow airflow and light to pass though. They are exquisitely hand carved from sugi Japanese cedar. A typical ranma may be from 1 2" thick to 1 1 2" thick. These two are unusual in that the single pieces of wood carving extends beyond the boundaries of the edges in all directions in amazing detail. It is approximately 68" x 13. 5" x 1. 5" and weighs in at about 10lbs
