縞柄は江戸時代「粋なお洒落」の象徴的なデザインであり、線を重ねることで「調和」を意味していました。奢侈禁止令のあった当時は庶民が派手な色柄を着ることができなかったため、縞柄や格子柄などの幾何学文様が発展しました。

正倉院紋様は奈良東大寺・正倉院の中に所蔵されていた染織品にみられる柄。

型染で細縞を染めた小紋をアロハシャツに。縞それぞれに極細やかな文様が入れ込まれています。 なかでも代表的な吉祥文様である亀甲文様は武士に好まれた文様であることから 「強さ」「権威」の象徴とされています。 地紋に織り込まれた立涌文様は「運気上昇」「出世」の意味を持ちます。

着物の生地としてこれほど細やかにエスニック柄を描くことは珍しく、個性的な雰囲気を持っています。
