Exhibited in the Golf Exhibition at the High Museum of Art
we talked mainly about the tango
Tickertape parades are a distinctly American phenomena and I sense the slight distance this British artist seems to feel
I did say I wouldn’t be boring you to death with biographical information that can be found on our website but in Trotin’s case the story is just too good
A Society Beauty Black & White This painting is currently displayedThis is an archetypal Belle Epoque portrait, painted in 1899 it shows a young woman of wealth and social standing. Although dressed in sumptuous silks, it is a domestic moment rather than a formal coming of age or marriage marker. She looks mildly peeved at being interrupted, a well loved book in hand. It is looser and more Parisian than his later works and as it surfaced in America it could well be one of the many wealthy heiresses wearing a furrow
