Old Map of the Lake District, 1950 - Windermere, Derwentwater, Coniston, Lakeland, Keswick, Penrith, Cumbria venecian It is also the firstPublished in 1950 by Dunlop Rubber (yes, that Dunlop) this is a fine old map that shows the roads, towns and landmarks of the Lake District. Somewhat unusually, this map is dotted with silhouettes and portraits of famous people and authors such as Wordsworth and Ruskin, and a marker of where Mary Queen of Scots 'took shelter on her flight from Scotland'. The surrounding counties of Cumberland and Westmorland (now Cumbria) and Lancashire are labelled.
