光琳松は名前の通り尾形光琳が描いた松をアレンジした松文様で、松は「威厳」「長寿」の象徴とされます。江戸時代の暖簾はこのように吉祥のモチーフを絵柄として使うことが多かったといいます。

京都の祇園祭の山鉾は疫病や災いを鎮めるためにつくられたとされていることから、「厄除け」「魔除け」を連想させる意匠となっています。
