This exquisite piece of antique 100+ year old Japanese indigo hand woven cotton features an artist signed central mon (family crest) design created using the traditional tsutsugaki dyeing technique
The sheath is made of lighter alloys and decorated with a gold dragon and other traditional motifs
This allows it to have a thinner blade that cuts more efficiently and leaves a narrower kerf (cut width)
This unusually large vintage Japanese carving (mid-late 20th century) was created by the indigenous Ainu people now mainly on the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido

This mid Meiji era c1880's Chobadansu or document chest has all the original ten drawers (including two behind the safe) and two cabinet spaces behind sliding doors.
