Document Box with Drawers Jade The paintings show various flowersJiangsu, circa 1880 This elegant, domed chest made from beech wood was made in Jiangsu province in eastern China in the late nineteenth century. It retains its original metal handles to the sides and front, along with its old finish. The domed lid opens up to a shallow section at the top, whilst the doors open to reveal five small drawers. The chest would likely have been used by a family to store some more expensive items of jewellery, coins, or silk
