吉祥紋様が豪華に染められた江戸褄（えどづま）という着物から。

そのため亀甲文様は神聖な文様とされ、庶民は見ることも許されなかった文様でした。

桐生絞は群馬県ふるさと伝統工芸品指定の織物で「泉織物」一社のみが生産しています。

現在では江戸小紋に使われる柄を使った「江戸小紋柄」の着物も多く、長く愛される文様。
