This tansu was made in the mid Meiji era (c. 1880's) of all solid Keyaki (Japanese elm) front and case with Sugi (Japanese cedar) interiors. The all Keyaki exterior indicates a very high quality construction. Ishodansu were used to store precious kimono, obi and accessories.
