The SEPECAT Jaguar and the T 38 were discussed, but Mitsubishi , Kawasaki and Fuji were asked to submit their own designs. Mitsubishi was selected with its T 2 design and the aircraft was gradually put into service from 1976 onwards. The T 2 is very similar to the SEPECAT Jaguar , but is a completely original design by Mitsubishi . The T 2 was used
