In 1774, the group emigrated to the American state of New York. Here in Europe, the Shakers are primarily known for their furniture and product designs. The Shaker style is now considered a unique and influential contribution to art history. Shaker furniture was already widespread throughout the USA in the 19th century and was even presented at world's fairs.
