A Military Medal, c. 1860 Auction Archive (ii) Royal Canadian Naval VolunteerIn silver, the obverse bearing the profile of Emperor Napoleon III, the reverse the inscription VALEUR ET DISCIPLINE, topped by an imperial silver crown, measuring 46. 3 mm (h) x 26. 2 mm (w), light contact, very fine. Footnote: The Military Medal was a military decoration awarded for meritorious service and acts of bravery in action against an enemy force. It is the third highest award of the French Republic.
