David Bowie, a huge Velvet Underground fan and amazing musician, started covering the title track in the early 70s. He regularly performed the song and recordered live versions of it on various occasions, like two different BBC sessions and recordings from the Ziggy Stardust tour. In 1983, Ziggy Stardust: The Motion Picture, which was recorded at the London gig on the
