Baton used by Toscanini in a rehearsal, from the collection of conductor Lloyd Shaffer (1901 1969). Shaffer ran a small orchestra & supper club in Connecticut, and was a great admirer of Toscanini. According to his daughter Kay D. Salberg, Shaffer was presented this baton by a fellow musician and friend who played in both Mr. Shaffers and the NBC Symphony Orchestra under
