The tippler variant was ordered by Stewarts and Lloyds Ltd, the steel manufacturer of Corby and 700 of these wagons without doors were built between 1939 and 1940. Unloaded using a rotary tippler, the wagons passed to British Steel when the steel industry was Nationalised in 1967, later gaining British Steel Corporation
